What do you enjoy most about designing?
Without a doubt, it is the people and long-lasting relationships that make my job enjoyable and so much fun. From working with the best builders in the business to having literally, clients for life, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
It cannot be overstated, there is no comparison to the beauty of New Mexico. I’ve been fortunate enough to have grown up here and chosen a career path that allows me to interact and create in such awe-inspiring surroundings.
What do you do to stay on the cutting edge of your industry?
Architecture is ever-changing, evolving. I maintain a competitive edge by staying hungry (some may call it entrepreneurial-paranoia!) and an openness to investing in technology to enhance my personal approach. Adding 3D modeling and 3D printing to my service-set has been an incredibly positive experience for my clients and builders alike.
It’s easy to get complacent. After 25 years of success and over 100 design awards, but the truth is there is always more yet to learn.
Do you have a particular style you enjoy designing?
My credo is client-specific, site-specific. I have had the pleasure to create a diverse portfolio of award-winning designs, including traditional Southwestern, Modern, Desert Modern, Mountain Modern, Prairie Modern, Lake House and even Lighthouse residences -all very rewarding styles. We are currently enjoying a trend towards more of the Desert Modern and Mountain Modern styles, but we do it all.
