On a lot that many builders overlooked because of its steep terrain, Jon Hartenberger saw an opportunity to create a modern home that would capture the 230-degree views of the Sandia Mountains. Floor-to-ceiling windows in a Mondrian-esque design reach more than 18-feet high on one wall, while additional carefully placed windows offer the far-ranging views from the top of the sleek staircase. Travertine floors, American Clay walls and warm colors prevent the minimalist design from feeling stark. The pine ceiling with a muted whitewash tops off this forever-fresh home design. “We strived to make the house timeless and modern,” says Hartenberger, “but not so modern that it would be cold and sterile.” Hartenberger Construction, jon_hartenberger.houzz.com
