traditional undertones

Marc Sowers of Bespoke Woodwork assumed these homeowners who relocated from Europe would want a sleek European kitchen. Instead, the wife had a clear vision for a white traditional space. Sowers and general contractor Zach Maguire worked within the original footprint. Instead of replacing all the flooring which ran throughout the home, they replaced a center section to create a contrast area for the table—another unique feature as the homeowner didn’t want an island; she wanted more seating. The cabinetry features raised-panel doors and turned leg details to give it the heft and look of furniture. Forgoing a garbage disposal allowed Sowers to build a custom under-sink drawer to maximize storage. The homeowner wanted the crisp black and white look, so the walls that don’t feature the highly veined granite backsplash are painted matte black. The original range hood was refinished in black to match the apron-front sink and black drawer pulls.
