J.C. Anderson Construction Co. Since the early 1970s, Jack Anderson has been building homes and, in fact, started out on his own by the age of twenty-four. During the difficult market in the 1980s, Anderson parted ways with his only business partner and continued to build what worked during tough times—passive solar, energy-efficient homes. His company, JC Anderson Construction, still focuses on energy efficiency. Anderson says that in today’s market what worked in a tough economic times years ago is still what works today. “When I first started building passive solar in the late seventies, the technology was pretty hard to come by. Now there’s some good active solar technology that is working well.” He has two nearly 100% solar hot water systems running in recent homes thanks to a wonderful source for solar products and consultation for both hot water heat and electric photo-voltaic energy. Fifty percent of Anderson’s homes are built with ICF (insulated concrete forms). Anderson adds that they always employ as many green building concepts to their homes as is practical. The company builds six to eight custom homes a year with most ranging between 2,200 and 4,000 square feet, although some have been upwards of 7,000 to 10,000 square feet. J.C. Anderson Construction concentrates their resources on a 50-mile radius of Albuquerque and has also been building in the Deer Canyon Preserve in Mountainair, New Mexico, having completed several custom homes and an equestrian center. Having featured several award-winning homes in the popular Homes of Enchantment Parade, their 2008 entry is located in San Pedro Creek development in Albuquerque’s east mountains. |
