What you see when you leave a room is just as important as what you see when you enter one.

D.R. Horton’s Grand Canyon model home in the master planned community of Cabezon in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, deftly follows that architectural maxim. From the dramatic soaring windows spanning two stories in the family room to the carefully planned design in which rooms comfortably flow and blend views of one another, in this home there is always something to catch the eye beyond the present room.

While the 2,998-square-foot home features several comfortably intimate areas—including an elegant retreat in the master suite encompassing more than 550 square feet—almost every room provides views into adjoining rooms, and often that view spans the length of the home. The small tiled foyer and formal living room have views of the stunning family room’s massive windows. Without moving, a glimpse through the sedate dining room and past the kitchen’s island leads to a sunny kitchen window with a nice little ledge perfect for nurturing an indoor potted herb garden. A private library and powder room lie just beyond an expansive half-wall arch, offering a line of sight to almost every room on the lower level. In fact, the laundry room off the kitchen and access to the three-car garage conveniently remain hidden from that first view.
